In my classroom we try to stay Green. What does that mean?
We recycle what we can. Paper, plastic, cardboard, etc. By the end of the year, students are trying to recycle as much as they possibly can.
We limit our electricity by using half of our lights during the majority of the day. Once the sun is up and shining, most of the time we turn our lights off completely!

We also have a lot of plants in our classroom, which also helps add to our calm atmosphere. My plants that can't stay outside over the winter come inside our classroom when the weather starts getting cold. I also have plants that I keep in my classroom the whole school year that have been given to me by previous students. We refer to these plants by those students' names. It means a lot to those students to have their plants named after them. When I've visited past students of mine they're always wondering how their plant is doing. In the case of my Travis and Gina plants, they were shocked to see how big they had gotten since they both started out no bigger than my hand.
