I've just recently (November 2019) color coded each device, their port, and charging cable to ensure that my students are responsible for their device. We also have 6 mini iPads that students can use, mostly for sharing their work on SeeSaw, but also for quicker access to Freckle, when needed. | We are lucky to have 1:1 Chromebooks during the 2019 school year! My students use their Chromebooks to practice their math skills using Freckle Education when they've finished their independent math work for the day. We use other sites like Epic! Books and RAZkids, too! Students use Google Classroom to access these sites quickly and responsibly. These websites do not replace our whole group instruction. Rather they offer opportunities for students to grow at their own levels in math and reading. They also allow them to explore their interests in those academic areas as well. With many state assessments becoming more dependent on technology, I also want to make sure my students are familiar with how to use the technology in our classroom. For example, in the 2018 school year my students mostly needed to use the computer mouse to manipulate the Chromebook (they only used them a handful of times during the whole year.) However, with more exposure to tech resources in 2019, only a few students needed to use a mouse, and it was only for two questions on a test. They are becoming adept at using the touchpad due to more consistent use. |
My students and I use our SmartBoard throughout the school day during our whole group instruction. We also have an ELMO document camera to share our work.
